Michael Shannon, Margaret Qualley, & Drew Starkey to Star in Southern Gothic Horror Movie ‘King Snake’

Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water, Take Shelter), Margaret Qualley (The Substance), and Drew Starkey (Hellraiser, Queer) are set to star in Take Shelter writer and director Jeff Nichols’ King Snake, Deadline reports.
Qualley and Starkey play a couple in King Snake, “who inherit a farm in rural Arkansas and must conquer the demons, both physical and metaphysical, that haunt its legacy. Forces of good and evil collide in a terrifying film where real-world challenges crash headlong into otherworldly creatures and myths.”
What role Shannon will play, along with additional plot details, remains under wraps at this time, but the premise is immediately intriguing. It’s also worth noting that Shannon previously collaborated with Nichols on the apocalyptic psychological horror movie Take Shelter and sci-fi mystery thriller Midnight Special.
FilmNation is financing the Southern gothic horror movie and launching sales out of the American Film Market.
“Jeff is a singular filmmaker and King Snake will bewitch and enthrall audiences around the world with a startling new vision of the supernatural forces that hover just beyond our everyday perceptions,” said FilmNation CEO Glen Basner.
Nichols, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Sarah Green will produce the Southern gothic horror film in association with Range Media Partners.
Stay tuned for more on King Snake as it arrives.
