Throwback Survival Horror Title ‘Ground Zero’ Adds PS5, Xbox Series Versions With 2026 Release Window [Trailer]

We haven’t heard from Malformation Games and their upcoming throwback survival horror game Ground Zero since June’s Future Games Show Summer Showacse. That’s all changed now with the reveal that in addition to a Steam release, the devs have added versions for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series, as well as announced a 2026 release window. It’s all been topped off with a new story trailer, revealed at the Galaxies Showcase.
Ground Zero takes place after a devastating meteor impact on South Korea. Two months later, as the dust and lightning storms settle and the air becomes breathable, an elite Korean operative and her Canadian partner are sent to investigate. What waits for them in the foggy remains is a city in ruins, and every living thing transformed into a terrifying monstrous threat.
Sporting a familiar cinematic fixed camera, Ground Zero will have players defending themselves with an array of weaponry and abilities. Perfect your fighting skills and get rewarded. Cleaner kills will earn you more Genome Points, which can be traded for powerful gear upgrades.
Along the way, you’ll be uncovering the truth of what really hit Busan that day, and what exactly are these strange growths coming from the meteor impact.
And just like a certain survival horror classic, there’s plenty of unlockables and extra content available to players for further replayability. That includes alternate outfits, additional game modes and hidden endings.
