Missing your horror fix from Arkane’s Deathloop? ProbablyMonsters is looking to remedy that with their first-person narrative horror game Ire: A Prologue for Steam and the Epic Games Store. Coming this October, Ire is meant to be the first of a franchise, and is touted as a love letter to 80s and 90s horror.

The story concerns Emily, whose father has vanished. And the only clues to his disappearance lie aboard a ship that’s been lost in the Bermuda Triangle. To find him, Emily must unlock 13 doors aboard the ship, each with their own loops. All the while, a monster is tracking Emily’s every move.

The only way to survive the monster stalking Emily is to stay hidden. As you sneak around the ship, you’ll need to use stealth mechanics to remain out of reach, as well as find, assemble, and use tools to distract and outwit it. However, the monster will learn and adapt to your strategies, so choose your moves wisely.

All the while, you’ll need to search each room aboard the ship for journals, cassettes, and discarded items to learn the truth of what happened to the missing crew, and ultimately, your father.

As mentioned, Ire: A Prologue is meant to be the start of a “deep narrative” behind the many mysteries for the franchise. Emily’s story is intended to be the catalyst for “a chain of events that will forever change the world as we know it.”
