Yorkiethon IX Auctioning ‘Halloween Kills’ 1978 Michael Myers Mask Pulled from Original Mold!

Bloody Disgusting is the official sponsor of this year’s Yorkiethon IX from horror filmmakers Adam Green (Hatchet) and Joe Lynch (Suitable Flesh) and their podcast The Movie Crypt, and the 48-hour live broadcast kicks off tonight (July 25) from 5pm – 10pm PST. The show continues Saturday (7/26) 9am PST – 8pm PST, and Sunday (7/27) 9am PST – 5pm PST.

One of the highlights of the annual Yorkiethon every year is Arwen’s Silent Auction, where horror fans can bid on donated items ranging from autographed movie memorabilia, screen-used wardrobe, and rare vinyl box sets to toys, games, and dates with the three hosts.

One of this year’s auction items is particularly special, as makeup effects master Christopher Nelson has donated a Michael Myers mask pulled from the original mold that was created for Halloween Kills. The mask being auctioned off is from the fan favorite 1978 flashback sequence, and Nelson says that less than five of these bad boys are even in existence!

The auction notes, “Referred to as a “blank” because the mask was painted but never “haired” due to not being used on-screen, we can’t stress enough just how insanely rare this piece of Halloween history actually is! This mask comes directly from the actual FX artist for the film and has never been sold or recreated. Anything else out there is fan-made!”

The latex mask comes signed by Christopher Nelson, and it’s already fetching over $8,000 with 16 bids. You can learn more and throw your hat in the running via the auction site now!
