Clark Backo & Drew Ray Tanner to Star in Supernatural Eco-Horror Film ‘Split Rock’

Clark Backo (Venom: The Last Dance), Drew Ray Tanner (“Riverdale”), Olivia Luccardi (It Follows), and Graham Verchere (Summer of 84) will star in Split Rock, Variety reports.

Described as “supernatural, ecological-horror story,” the Canadian film is written and directed by Ryan Glover (The Strings).

It follows geologists Lauren (Backo) and Ben (Tanner), partners in both work and life, as they investigate a strange anomaly discovered deep in the terrain. Alongside their colleague Sam (Luccardi) and intern Trevor (Verchere), the group must navigate an escalating series of horrors that starts once they uncover an ancient force of destruction buried in the ground.

Produced by Brian Robertson of Low End, Jefferson Moneo of Prowler Pictures, and Krista Dzialoszynski of Observer Effect Productions, the film is set to begin shooting next week in the Saskatchewan badlands.

Leaning into a naturalistic visual style that underscores the haunting prairie landscape, it will be shot on Kodak Super 16mm film with cinematography by Nikolay Michaylov.
