It’s the first week of September, and that means it’s the official start of the Halloween Season. We’re kicking off the best two months of the year with five brand new horror movies this week alone, including the return of the biggest horror franchise universe in cinema history.

Here’s all the new horror released from September 1 – September 7, 2025!

For daily reminders about new horror releases, be sure to follow @HorrorCalendar.

No one knows if they’re truly alone in Stefan Colson’s Lookout. The sci-fi thriller was released this past Tuesday on VOD as well as Blu-ray and DVD via Jackrabbit Media.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Lookout: “Seeking peace away from her turbulent life, a young woman accepts a job as a fire lookout at a remote wilderness tower.

“As she settles into her new role, eerie disturbances and strange occurrences begin to unfold, and she must uncover the chilling secrets that disrupt her isolation before it’s too late.”

Meghan Carrasquillo stars in the film alongside Trent Culkin, John Marrs, Mitch Tellez, Robert Clark, Jim Round, Braden McCawley, Cara Leoni, and Ryan Ellerbe.

A mother will protect her young at any cost in Hippo’s Revenge, which looks as if someone turned Hungry Hungry Hippos into a horror movie. It hit VOD outlets this past Tuesday.

“A father and daughter prepare to open their Safari Rescue, featuring a mother hippo and her calf. When a ruthless criminal plots to steal them under the cover of night, chaos erupts.

“Facing danger, betrayal, and heartbreak, the family fights back, risking everything to protect the animals and secure their safety.”

Sam P. Green wrote and directed the hippo horror movie, which features a cast including Jenna N. Wilson, Michael Hoad, Evyn George, Tom Marchant, and Jason Bailey.

More than a decade in the making, writer-director Joe Hollow has reworked his 2014 indie film Disciples into The Devil’s Disciples, and the horror fantasy is now available at home.

The late, great Tony Todd (Candyman) and Angus Scrimm (Phantasm) appear in the film alongside fellow horror icons Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead), Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre), Barbara Magnolfi (Suspiria), and Debbie Rochon (Tromeo and Juliet).

The star-studded cast also includes Nick Principe (Laid to Rest), Elissa Dowling (We Are Still Here), Morgan Peter Brown (Absentia), and the late Camden Toy (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), along with Tom Lodewyck, Debra Lamb, Kaylee Williams, Chris Burchette, Matt Ukena, Tawny Amber Young, and Shannon Lark.

“A dark shadow is cast over Lucifer’s dominion when an amulet of immortal power ends up in the wrong hands. It becomes a race against time as Lucifer’s highest council must come together and deal with an ancient prophecy that threatens Lucifer’s reign. A threat that is feared to be a descendant of the ancient Seraphim – a powerful, fallen angel with wings of fire.

“But the prophecy is written in form of a riddle. Is this Seraph the enemy of Lucifer or a loyal defender of Lucifer? A defender against who or what? Lucifer’s highest council must now confront destiny or risk the fall of Hell’s reign on Earth.”

Hollow explains, “10 years after the film’s first release, I felt the need to not just refine it, but to transform it into something entirely new. I’ve reshaped it into a darker, more linear, more personal, and far richer vision than before. This cut stands not only as the definitive version of the film, but also as my tribute to the extraordinary people who helped bring it to life.”

Helloween appears to be Britain’s answer to Terrifier mixed with The Purge, and the killer clown horror movie was unleashed onto VOD outlets beginning today, September 5.

In Helloween, “At the height of the ‘killer clown’ phenomenon, psychiatrist Dr Ellen Marks and investigative journalist John Parker uncover a terrifying conspiracy masterminded by maniacal incarcerated serial killer Carl Cane, plotting an anarchistic, uprising from his cell deep in the bowels of the Moreton Downs Psychiatric Hospital.

“With a murderous army of clowns awaiting his signal to kill, Cane escapes, intent on unleashing his vengeance. Ellen and John face a desperate race against time to avert a bloodbath and stop Cane unleashing his own personal hell on Halloween.”

Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott, Michael Paré (Streets of Fire), Ronan Summers, Megan Marszal, Caroline Wilde, and Tamsin Dean star in director Phil Claydon’s movie.

The end is near. From director Michael Chaves, The Conjuring: Last Rites, billed as the final installment in the mainline franchise, is now playing in theaters nationwide.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star in one last terrifying big screen adventure. The Conjuring: Last Rites draws inspiration from the real life Smurl Family Haunting.

Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy also star alongside Steve Coulter, Rebecca Calder, Elliot Cowan, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, John Brotherton and Shannon Kook.

Meagan Navarro writes in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “The Conjuring: Last Rites is suitably nightmarish where it counts, bringing memorable chills that linger and spilling more blood than usual in a Conjuring film. But it’s more affecting for the way it wears its heart on its sleeves. It’s a fitting, heartfelt end to one of horror’s biggest modern franchises.”
