‘Hallow Road’ – Psychological Thriller Starring Rosamund Pike & Matthew Rhys to Get Fall Release

After receiving a UK theatrical release last month via Universal, psychological thriller Hallow Road has been acquired and is slated to release stateside this fall from XYZ Films, Deadline reports today.
Though the date hasn’t been announced just yet, expect Bafta-winning director Babak Anvari’s Halloween-set psychological thriller to arrive in theaters in Fall 2025.
Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”) star as two parents who receive a distressing late-night call from their teenage daughter, who has just accidentally hit a pedestrian. They jump in their car, racing to get there before anyone else stumbles across the scene.
As they head deeper into the night, disturbing revelations threaten to tear the family apart, and they soon realize they might not be the only ones driving down Hallow Road.
Megan McDonnell (“Normal People”) co-stars in the film written by William Gillies.
The movie world premiered in the SXSW Film Festival’s Midnighter sidebar in March. I wrote in my review out of the fest, “Like Anvari’s Under the Shadow and Wounds, Hallow Road steeps the supernatural in realism; this is a filmmaker far more interested in exploring the psychological ramifications rather than showy horror visuals. It’s a move that’s likely to frustrate many, especially as it ventures deeper and deeper into a mythic place and the parents realize their daughter isn’t alone on the deserted stretch of road.”
Anvari is still attached to direct a new Cloverfield movie, which is said to be a direct sequel to the 2008 original.
Lucan Toh of Two & Two Pictures and Ian Henry of London Film & TV produced the film alongside XYZ Films.
The theatrical trailer for Hallow Road will debut nationwide in U.S. theaters on June 6 alongside XYZ Film’s The Ritual starring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens.
Stay tuned for additional news on Hallow Road as it arrives.
