Macabre Spirits, the horror-themed spirit brand co-founded by Matthew Lillard, is back with a new nightmare in a bottle.

Hell Is Not Mocked is a 98-proof Texas whiskey, hand-selected by Master Blender Molly Troupe, paired with an original short story by Christopher Buehlman (Between Two Fires, The Blacktongue Thief).

The author spins a dark Western Gothic tale of retribution and reckoning, set in a sun-scorched land where the dead don’t stay buried. The bottle and book both feature cover art by John Brosio, renowned for his ominous, surreal depictions of disaster and the uncanny.

“Horror fans are some of the most passionate people on the planet, and they deserve something crafted with the same love and obsession they bring to the genre,” says Lillard. “For our second Macabre release, we turned to Christopher Buehlman, my favorite modern author and a friend since our days as roommates working at the Renaissance Faire 35 years ago. His writing is gritty and unforgettable, so we matched it with a Texas whiskey just as bold and haunted.”

Each Macabre Spirits release is designed to be a sensorial experience: a collectible bottle, a limited-edition story, original oil-painted cover art, and a spirit worthy of ritual, all packaged in a custom-designed box.

Hell Is Not Mocked will be available for $99.99 beginning July 31 from Find Familiar Spirits.
