‘Jack-O’ Is Back-O – Fred Olen Ray & Sybil Danning Are Making a Sequel to the ’90s Cult Classic Slasher

In 1995, filmmaker Fred Olen Ray (Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Evil Toons) executive produced the direct-to-video Halloween slasher Jack-O — which he famously referring to as a “shit pickle” on the audio commentary.
30 years later, the B-movie stalwart is writing and directing Jack-O 2: Blood Moon Rising. Inspired by 1970s drive-in movies, the sequel aims to highlight a monstrous creature, dark swamps, and fair maidens in peril.
Ray will produce alongside Sean Donohue, with original Jack-O director Steve Latshaw and exploitation maven William Grefé (Mako: The Jaws of Death) executive producing.
Genre regulars Sybil Danning (Howling II: Your Sister Is a Werewolf), Richard Gabai (Demon Wind), Sushii Xhyvette Holder (Naked Cannibal Campers), and Martin Nicholas (The Alien Dead) are attached to star.
An Indiegogo campaign has launched to crowdfund $50,000 toward the sequel, which Ray says will “help offset my personal cash investment for the bulk of the financing and allow me to import a name star.” Perks range from signed Blu-rays to producer credits.
“My passion springs from the heyday of the 1970s drive-in movie theater where I thrilled to great homegrown exploitation movies like Slithis, Death Curse of Tartu and Gator Bait,” notes Ray. “When I began my career, it was in movies like Shock Waves and my swamp epic The Alien Dead starring serial legend Buster Crabbe. I have long awaited a return to the genre I love so much and now Jack-O 2 is my chance.”
Jack-O 2: Blood Moon Rising is aiming to film in Florida later this year for a 2026 release.
