NES Fan Game ‘All Hell Unleashed’ Now Available as Standalone Windows Port

Back in April, indie developer Steve McCall dropped us a line on his new throwback NES fan game, All Hell Unleashed. Despite it being finished, Steve has still been working away at the game, and the result is that All Hell Unleashed has now been ported as a standalone Windows game.
That’s right, you don’t need to go through the trouble of grabbing an emulator to get your old-school horror icon fix.
Steve has even gone the extra mile and made it so that the controls, screen size, and the graphical filters can be adjusted in the game. For the other settings, you’ll need to flex your Notepad wizardry and edit the ‘settings.json’ file. The port is set up for Xbox controllers, but those who love their 8BitDo controllers and the like can easily customize things.

Just in case you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, Steve (who kicked things off with his series of “demake” games) worked on All Hell Unleashed for a little over a year. The game pits you against an all-star cast of the most famous horror icons of all time. Thanks to a sinister cult, Jason, Michael, Freddy, Candyman, Ghostface, Leatherface, Chucky, Pennywise, Pinhead and the Killer Klowns have been summoned thanks to a dimensional rift. And you’ve got to clean up the mess.
All Hell Unleashed is more than just a simple action game. Steve has gone above and beyond for this labour of love, adding not only multiple game modes, but also various Easter Eggs and classic cheat codes (including a NSFW “Disrobe Mode”).
You can grab the ROM (or the Windows port) from the game’s itch.io page.
