The site explains, “Robert Englund will be honored with the 2,826th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Halloween, October 31st at 11:30 am PT. The star will be unveiled at 6644 Hollywood Boulevard. Englund will receive his star in the category of Motion Pictures.”

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Robert Englund to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” stated Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer. “I think the timing of having Robert’s star on Halloween is most fitting as Robert’s legacy is deeply entwined with the very spirit of Halloween. Fans and industry peers alike will gather to celebrate a performer whose iconic work continues to haunt and inspire audiences around the globe,” added Martinez.
Robert Englund is of course best known for his iconic portrayal of Freddy Krueger in New Line Cinema’s A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. He is a versatile actor who has appeared in over eighty films, multiple TV series, and countless guest star roles.
Born in Glendale, California, he is the son of an aeronautics engineer who helped develop the Lockheed U-2 airplane. At 12 years old he was a happy-go-lucky surfer dude, who stumbled into his first acting class through a friend but fell in love with the craft and ended up finishing his education at the U.S. branch of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at Oakland University in Detroit. After five years performing in classic plays on the East Coast, he returned to California and landed the first role he auditioned for in Buster and Billie. Soon after, he was cast as Willie in the hit show V.
To avoid being typecast as a Southern sidekick or friendly alien, he auditioned for a little horror movie directed by Wes Craven. Wes intended to cast a hulking stuntman, but took a chance on Robert, who brought his classical theatrical training to the role and gave the physical presence of Freddy a gravitas and menace. The movie was a hit, spawned seven sequels, and became an international phenomenon that allowed New Line Cinema, “The House That Freddy Built,” to become a major player in the film world.
Englund supports ScaresThatCare.org and the Laguna Beach High School Scholarship.
