DreadXP Announceds Stylized Dark Fantasy Dungeon Crawler ‘The Secret of Weepstone’ [Trailer]

So, you’ve polished off Labyrinth of the Demon King, and are looking for more? DreadXP and developer Talesworth Game Studio have a little something in the works for next year with The Secret of Weepstone, a hand-drawn, black and white dungeon-crawling RPG coming to Steam. And if you’re attending PAX West 2025 this year (from August 29 to September 1), you can check out the demo at the DreadXP booth.
Described as a nostalgic throwback inspired by classic Dungeons & Dragons campaigns of the 70s and 80s, The Secret of Weepstone takes place in the eponymous village. In the shadow of a crumbling abandoned keep, Weepstone was once a thriving settlement, but now withers in silence, fields barren, crops dead, and its people in fear. Byron, Lord of Weepstone, is ill and bedridden, haunted by night terrors of unholy rituals and unknowable forces. With no champions to call upon, it falls to the commonfolk of the town to face the unknown, confront whatever powers are to blame, and discover the secrets that are held within the crumbling walls.
Rendered entirely in striking hand-drawn black and white, you will guide your party of up to 8 members to enter the keep, filling your ranks with common villagers, battle-worn adventurers, possible heretics and more. Not only will you face a variety of foes as you descend into the keep, but also be on the lookout for traps, puzzles, secrets and more. You’ll also be scrounging up whatever is not nailed down to equip your party.
Staying true to its inspirations, The Secret of Weepstone has you rolling dice for combat and skill checks. Should members of your party die (and they will), you will gain unique “Mortal Favors” upon their death to ease your burden.
