‘Dr. Death’ Follows the Trail of Christopher Duntsch’s Destruction [Murder Made Fiction Podcast]

Like it or not, we all know that malpractice is inevitable. Doctors are fallible human beings and every time we go under the knife, there’s a small chance that we won’t wake up. But we put our trust in surgeons who’ve spent years honing their craft and vowed to save us whatever the cost. And most of the time things turn out fine. We receive competent care from a trained professional. But not for patients of Christopher Duntsch (Joshua Jackson). The vast majority of those in his care either woke up from surgery in worse condition or they didn’t wake up at all.
Episodes three and four of Dr. Death season one follow a pair of surgeons tasked with repairing Duntsch’s botched operations. Horrified by the damage he’s caused, Dr. Kirby (Christian Slater) and Dr. Henderson (Alec Baldwin) retrace his time at the University of Tennessee, determined to find out what went wrong.
How could a surgeon with such glowing recommendations be responsible for so much needless suffering?
In the latest episode of Bloody FM’s Murder Made Fiction, Joe and Jenn unpack this shocking pair of episodes. Duel timelines take us back to Tennessee as Duntsch woos his teachers with lucrative patents. In the future, we watch as Chris spirals out of control when word of his incompetence makes the rounds.
